Pondok Indah, Jakarta

The man in this photo rides his motorbike around the local Kampung (village) every morning to deliver krupuk, a local Indonesian snack, to the village people. 

The village in which he lives is in a neighborhood called Pondok Indah, one of the sectors of Jakarta. Many of the people of the village work nearby, but there are also people who come to this area from all over Jakarta to find work. Those people often stay in the village during their work periods as it is more convenient than going back home every day. 

The people who live in this village currently face a dilemma, as they are receiving great sums of money to buy the land of their village, but they do not want to move from the location. "Although we could take the money and all start a better life in Bogor (another city on the Java island), many of us have grown up and started their families in this village so we want to hold on to our roots."
