Taksim Square, Istanbul
Istanbul during Ramadan. The word Iftar in Turkish is defined as the first meal after breaking the daily fast. This fast-breaking occurs at sundown, as a part of Muslim tradition. This photo was taken of two shop vendors five minutes before sundown. The vendors were waiting for the sun to set so that they could eat as well as sell food to all the waiting people in the square. Everyone in this location was lining up to wait for the sun to go down so that they could break their Ramadan fasts together by indulging in Kumpir, a traditional Turkish meal consisting of potato stuffed with various condiments.
