Prism Effect with Chaya Gonzales

A few days ago, after a long break from my photography (due to those terrible things called exams), I was scrolling through my instagram and came across a few photos with special lighting effects that I had rarely seen before. These lighting effects were unique in the sense that they seemed to be reflected, and created unique patters on the photo. After researching online, I found that these special lighting effects were actually the use of a glass prism in front of the camera lens. The idea was that the light travelled through the prism and created patterns within the lens. I had to try it out.

Yesterday, Chaya Gonzales and I went out to a greenhouse near our homes and attempted this prism effect. After unpacking and rummaging through every inch of my home, I had finally found an old triangular glass pyramid that could serve as a makeshift photography prism for our shoot. The greenhouse was covered in leaves and bugs (as you would expect a greenhouse to be) yet we managed, and were able to get some successful shots. I was (and still am) a novice in the area, I was able to achieve some really interesting and unique lighting effects with the makeshift prism.
